Instrumental Music provides our students the opportunity to develop their musical skills through playing an instrument, performing in ensembles, and engaging with a diverse range of musical styles. This program offers tuition during school hours in woodwind, brass and percussion fostering both individual skill development and ensemble performance before school.
The Instrumental Music Program in Queensland state schools offers a structured curriculum designed to develop students' musical skills progressively. This curriculum spans 10 instructional levels, each building upon the previous to enhance technical proficiency, musical understanding, and ensemble performance capabilities.
Lessons are of 30 minutes duration, conducted on a rolling roster throughout the day on a Tuesday. Students also participate in the Band ensemble, and practice every Tuesday morning at 8am.
Through learning to play an instrument, students enhance their aural skills, coordination, and musical literacy, while also building resilience and confidence in performance settings.
