The Mathematics program at Collingwood Park State Secondary College develops confident, capable, and flexible thinkers who can apply mathematical understanding to real-world situations. Aligned with Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, our program encourages students to recognise patterns, solve problems, reason effectively, and make informed decisions using mathematical concepts and evidence.

Throughout their learning, students engage with the core strands of Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Probability, and Statistics. They build fluency in essential skills such as calculating, estimating, modelling relationships, interpreting data, and using mathematical representations to communicate ideas clearly and logically. Students also develop their ability to justify conclusions, evaluate the reasonableness of solutions, and apply mathematics to authentic contexts.

Mathematics at Collingwood Park SSC emphasises both understanding and application. Students learn to persevere through challenging problems, collaborate with peers, and use digital tools to explore mathematical relationships more deeply. These skills prepare learners for a wide range of future pathways including engineering, finance, trades, health, data analysis, technology, and the sciences.

Beyond academic achievement, Mathematics nurtures curiosity, logical thinking, and confidence; skills that empower students to participate successfully in everyday life.

Collingwood Park State Secondary College is committed to supporting students as they develop strong numeracy skills, a growth mindset, and an appreciation for the power of mathematics to describe, analyse, and shape the world.
