The English program at Collingwood Park State Secondary College is designed to engage all learners, fostering a love of language and literature while developing essential literacy skills. Aligned with version 9 of The Australian Curriculum, the program gives students the opportunity to engage with a variety of texts and equips students with the ability to think critically and creatively, and develop communication, interaction and comprehension skills.
Through the study of a wide range of texts, students have the opportunity to develop and refine their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. They engage with diverse perspectives, explore storytelling in its many forms, and develop the ability to analyse and evaluate, constructing meaning and communicating ideas with confidence.
English provides a strong foundation for future pathways across all industries and study options. Beyond career opportunities, the subject cultivates the ability to express ideas clearly, evaluate information critically, and participate meaningfully in society.
